Long time no speak
Hey all. It's been a while since anyone posted one here, even longer since I posted. We have a practice today featuring the original line-up of the band (look who came crawling back :p) which should be good as I'm interested to see what we can come up with. Big plans we have. 15 January 2006
Mistakes
I think it’s about time I wrote about this because I constantly think about it and think what if? First let me explain that I, Joe and another friend called Chris were in a band called Seremia. The band was started around November 2004. At the time we had are first practice, none of us had instruments except Joe and we just basically messed around with them at he’s house (none of us could actually play). We tried to play a few songs and although the only one I can remember us trying to play is Placebos - Every You and Every Me to which we failed but it was all good fun. Around Christmas time I purchased my first guitar and a guitar book to learn how to play. Chris got his guitar for Christmas and Joe already had a drum kit. We all practiced at home and eventually had a proper practice in Chris’ garage but after about a month we just forgot about it and it fell into phase memory. During the last few months of school we all got back to gather due to the simple fact that Chris could now drive, so moving the equipment around was a lot easier. All the practices were held in Chris’ garage from this point. At the first practice we tried playing Green day – Maria and Blink 182 – The Rock Show. After failing to play them songs we just jumped in at the deep end and wrote our own. I came up with a really simple guitar riff, Joe put some simple drums to it and Chris already had some lyrics written. The first song we wrote was called Your Violence and it wasn’t finished until around the second or third practice. I wouldn’t call it a ground breaking song but we all enjoyed putting it together. We started writing a slow song after this to which I slightly altered a riff from another song that I could actually play (well slightly play) and it sounded pretty good. We then went on to write our third song which was actually started in between finishing Your Violence. After this Chris started writing the guitar and drums himself at home. So when the next practice came the songs were ready to play. I didn’t like this and I don’t think Joe did either. We liked putting all the music together as a group. We never told Chris we disliked this so it maybe our own fault and maybe if we did tell him everything would be ok. At this practice we got bored and started messing round in the garden. We then went on to come up with a new movie idea. The idea was pretty cool and may have been awesome to make but we’ll never know now. Are problem with making the movie was other people that Chris wanted involved but again we didn’t say anything about this, maybe we should have. At home I and Joe we’re talking to each other and both agreed we disliked the band now we didn’t write anything together as a group. We then decided to quit the band and tell Chris. Below is the chat log of that conversation. Note when I say the script is good I’m talking about the movie script Chris had sent me. Deni: Hey Carl: Hi Carl: Deni and I agree that band practice is getting boring and we’re just not enjoying it. Also although we agreed at first we don't want to do the movie with other people, it ruined Blair Wiccan and also it was no fun when it was all scripted. We liked messing around. Sorry but we have more important stuff to be doing. We're sure you can find 2 more people to replace us Chris: ok Deni: Yeah, also my mum was complaining about the drums, so I might have to get rid of them Deni: I say might, I mean will Carl: Anyway the script seems good Deni: lol Chris has left the conversation. Joe (Deni) didn’t mean to post that lol after my script comment and we reckon Chris saw it as an insult. We didn’t mean it as one, Joe just posted in the wrong window by accident at the worst possible time. I also remember Joe even told Chris it was a mistake, I doubt by him not speaking to us after this that he believed Joe. This was the point we lost a friend. We never intended to and regret it dearly Do I regret it? I do regret it as I’ve said we could have told Chris we disliked some stuff. I and Joe did enjoy band practice up until the point mentioned. We were also good friends with Chris. I and Chris would go running every week and had a number of website projects together. We also had a lot of the same interests. If we had the chance, both Joe and I would like to reform the band and produce some great music. We're not certain where Chris is in relation to a reform, but it's certainly something we're likely to discuss in the near future. We believe 2006 could be a promising year for the band. Anyway I just wanted to get all that off my chest. That ends this rather long post. 2 August 2005
Not such a great update
It's been eight days since what happened, happened. Well I'm still not in much of a mood to talk about it but lets say the band has gone (and will continue to go through) some re-structuring. I'm a little de-moralised with the stuff I am working on at the moment. I love the lyrics as much as ever but the guitar riffs seem a little dis-jointed now I'm playing them more. Still thats what working on them is for. Once I'm happy with some stuff I might dump some on the site for streaming or whatever. Anyway, I'll post when I have more news, later all. Chris. 16 July 2005
First album news
Hi all! Just thought I would share what I am working on at the moment. I've started penciling in the line-up for the first album which we should be recording over the summer. I just did a count of how much usable material I have and it's quite a lot. Some of the lyrics I have probably want make it on the first two albums, there is loads of stuff, I didn't realise I had so much. I'm really excited about the stuff I'm working on now, we have some really good material that hopefully we can make a great album with. 5 July 2005
Summer sessions
Hey all! I'm beginning to wonder if I ever paged this blog or what lol. Next move I think is to get some merch, we need shirts with a list of our tour dates on the back, "touring: nowhere!" Still things are moving along, we are going to be working on some more new material tommorow and will be working really hard over summer. We should be able to get some really cool stuff done. Been a little more difficult than usual considering my guitar is actually dead at the moment but minor technicalities cannot stop us! Chris. 29 June 2005
Plans
So we've been planning a gathering for a while now, and the usual period has passed where we do nothing. We've decided that we're going to take the drums up tonight at around 8, since we have transport. Quite a lot to take, but I don't need to take my guitar, since I'm technically the drummer. Tomorrow will be the actual practise itself. Originally we intended it to be today,, but there were complications which inevitably postponed it. We've got some new material, but I've had problems with the drums. Fonze will be playing bass for us, although the band remains the original trio - Chris, Carl and I. Expect more updates on the main news regarding the practice. 24 April 2005
